Questions & answers

New to baseball?

Everything new players and parents usually ask. Can't find your answer? Just ask us.

Getting started

I’ve never played. Can I still join?

Yes. Juniors and seniors of every ability are welcome, and our coaches will help you learn the game. No experience is needed.

Can I come and try before I register?

Absolutely. Come along to a Wednesday training at CB Wilson Reserve. Juniors train at 4:30pm and seniors at 5:30pm during winter. Email secretary@morningtonbaseballclub.com.au so we know to look out for you.

How old do you have to be?

Juniors start from around eight, in U11 (Rookie Ball). Seniors are open to players from 14. Our Masters teams are for players aged 38 and over. Use the age group finder to see where a junior fits.

Can girls and women play?

Yes. Every team at the club is mixed, and girls and women are always welcome.

Gear and uniform

What do I need for my first session?

A drink bottle, a hat and comfortable clothes. We have loan gear, so you don’t need a glove or bat to start.

What’s the uniform?

The Pirates cap, jersey and training top are ordered through the club (email merchandise@morningtonbaseballclub.com.au). Add white pants, black socks, a black belt and a black undershirt from any sports store. See Uniforms.

What shoes can I wear?

Baseball cleats. Juniors must wear moulded soles, not metal. U18s and seniors can wear moulded or metal cleats.

Costs and registration

How much does it cost?

Registration covers player registration and insurance with Baseball Australia, and uniform items are extra. The online platform adds a 4.4% admin fee to card payments. See Register for this season’s details.

When do I have to pay?

Before your first game, including practice matches. Baseball Victoria enforces this.

I’ve played before but forgot my login.

Don’t create a new account. Email our Secretary at secretary@morningtonbaseballclub.com.au and we’ll help you recover it.

Seasons and game day

What’s the difference between winter and summer?

Winter (late April to early September) is our main season, with juniors and seniors in the Dandenong Baseball Association. Summer (October to March) is senior and masters baseball in the Victorian Summer Baseball League, run by Baseball Victoria. You can play one or both.

When are games?

In winter, juniors play Saturday mornings (9:00 to 10:30am) and seniors play Saturdays at 12:00pm and 2:30pm. In summer, State 3 and State 4 play Sunday afternoons and Masters play Monday nights.

Where do you play?

Home games are at CB Wilson Reserve, 35–55 Wilsons Road, Mornington VIC 3931. There are two diamonds, off-street parking, a playground and clubrooms with a canteen and licensed bar.

How do I find out team selections?

Team selections and reminders go out on TeamApp. Download the app and join Mornington Baseball Club.

Around the club

What are club dinners?

After Wednesday training in winter, the clubrooms serve a club dinner from about 7:30pm. Players and their families are welcome.

How can I help out?

We’re always looking for volunteers, from scoring and canteen to coaching and committee. Email secretary@morningtonbaseballclub.com.au. Volunteers can also register free with Baseball Australia.
